foundations: luxe essentials for less

i did an inspiration post on the late, great Tina Chow two years ago, and i love that these simple style essentials are all cornerstones of Everlane's chic and well-priced collection. high on my wishlist right now is a slouchy navy cashmere cardigan, as well as some silk blouses (those rounded collars!) and slouchy tees.

have you shopped here? what are your favorites?

p.s. if anyone has the tees, how is the fit?

edit 2/15: i just received my first order! see my review here.

  1. I have two of their tee shirts - the colors are great, and the quality is very nice. And the prices were astonishing!

  4. Own way too many of Everlane's products. They did a cashmere stole this Christmas that had to have been made a very, very expensive place -- it was Loro Piano quality. Order from them, you won't be sorry!

    1. whoa. that's so great to hear! :D i'm also eyeing their weekender bags and backpacks...really, who am i kidding, i want everything!

  5. I've quite liked their t shirts, but I was not impressed with their cashmere. The crew neck was fine, and a good value for the price, but it has pilled pretty dramatically. (And I am very gentle with knitwear.)

    1. thanks for weighing in, Cait! :) how did you find their t shirt sizing? i like their women's classics as well as their his for hers tees.

ah, i hear you on the pilling. many of my knits (expensive or not) have pilled after a lot of wear, and i now have a sweater shaver to keep that in check. i tend think of knits as delicate items anyway, though.

  6. I'd love to hear about Everlane from you. I'm still waiting for them to ship internationally, and I'm never in NYC whenever they have their popup shop there. I love love the Weekender bag (at least how it looks), the silk blouses, and the Ryan tees.

  7. Yes! I haven't ordered from them, but have followed them closely since their soft launch and it looks so good. If you're going to do paired down basics, then they have to be really luxe in my opinion- so I like that. How lovely to be able to do luxe at a friendly price.

  8. I have a navy silk shirt and a black cashmere cardigan from Everlane. I love both and wear them often (I have on the cardigan now). As someone mentioned above, the cashmere does pill, but the overall effect is so thick and comfortable and grandfatherly, I don't mind. My next planned purchase is the ivory silk shirt with blush accents.

  9. Everlane's Ryan tees are my go-to t-shirts—they've got the perfect slouch. I purchased two last year, and they've held up pretty nicely since. I was always hesitant to splurge on t-shirts from the likes of Acne and Alexander Wang, so I was happy to find an affordable alternative. I want to try their cashmere crew next! :)

  10. I have some t-shirts and the navy silk blouse. I really like it...good quality and very flattering. I am curious about the scarves!

  11. Wow it's a beautiful look and I love that you can change it up with the different shoes - great inspiration. I haven't had the pleasure of shopping there but it all sounds very lovely.

  12. Have never shopped at Everlane, but that is about to change! Thank you so much for the link! One ? can anyone tell me the weight of the t-shirts? I hate having to wear a cami under a T...

    1. hey Diane i think their tees aren't too filmy - have heard only good things about the tees in terms of the materials and drape/fit!

  13. I have the silk shirt in gray and I *love* it; the quality is amazing for the price. I'm planning to pick up a couple of the tees next.

  14. I've heard of Everlane but am yet to shop there. I had been on the hunt for a slouchy navy cardigan, and after missing the boat with Uniqlo (which I was a little hesitant to buy from anyway), I decided to pick up a merino one from Country Rd.

I like the look of their silk blouses though, absolutely stunning!

  15. I have their sweatshirt. I loved it at first (really soft but substantial material). I ordered my usual small but I could have gone with an XS, but over a couple of months of wear and careful washing, I notice some pilling already. I am disappointed with that because pilling is my pet peeve with any clothing.

I do love the look of their weekender bag and I am waiting for Olive color to be back in stock.

  16. Timless lady and timeless look, these have been part of my wardrobe for at least 40 yrs!

  17. I'm on the lookout for a white silk blouse but worried about the sheer-ness that comes with the color. If you end up getting the white one, please let us know if it's wearable without a cami!

  18. I love the concept of Everlane--from the strict editing of items, the very helpful size guides to the actual clothes themselves but to my shame I have never shopped there. I especially like their his for hers line and their weekend bags. The reviews for their clothes are generally positive so in the future I might actually bite the bullet and buy something :)

  21. Not had the joy of experiencing Everlane first hand as they don't ship to the UK at time of typing. However I was reading a review of some of their tees which made for quite interesting reading. When they do ship to the UK - I will be purchasing. It's exactly my kind of thing.
