nice outfit. it looks so comfortable, yet still very chic.
i'm with lin. loosely knit cotton and linen are among my favorites. i just got this a.p.c. madras blouse made out of the softest, lightest cotton. it's going to be in heavy rotation this summer.
That's such a great outfit, denim cut-offs really suit you! The Equipment shirt is so nice, I have to put a white silk shirt on my wishlist. It's a bit too delicate for my lifestyle, though. I also prefer loosely knit linen and cotton for summer!
jennifer: thanks! the right woven cotton is a godsend when it's 85+ outside. i wish linen were more low-maintenance washing-wise!
Fleurette: hehe - i must admit, shorts have their place when it's too hot out to want to wear proper pants!
Garderoben: yes, i wish silk were more hardy and less high-maintenance. you can try cupro though - it's a very silk-like fabric that's more wash/wear friendly and isn't an icky synthetic.
Lightweight denim is summer-time must for me. I like capris and easy, flowing skirts. Floral and gingham prints are nice when I feel extra girly. Nothing beats an easy, relaxed t-shirt dress too, preferably with stripes. Can dress up or down and so pleasant when the temp rises to stifling.
You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Denim + silk. I live in my peach Equipment shirt, so it and my new one (same colour as yours) are going to be pretty much all I wear... but not til November at least. I'm currently wearing roughly a million layers :)
Nice outfit! Love the IM boots (and they look utterly walkable)!
I still find myself intimidated by silk tops (although I've come to own a few), I reach out for cotton tees and Steven Alan shirts, combined with linen or cotton wide leg pants or long breezy skirts. I tried the Phillip Lim shorts the other day but didn't work for my figure so i suppose I'll be wearing non-tight pants and tank tops and sandals the whole summer.
Eva: i agree with you on capris and floral prints - i have a few dresses with various floral motifs and they never get old every season.
La Fille mal Gardee: isn't Equipment great? i think i'm going to wear mine tucked in a lot more this sumemr!
Nanashi: they are! i agree that silk tops aren't for all occasions. i like that you can just throw one on for evening, though. the other great thing, of course, is the drape - so luxurious! :) did you end up getting the striped tank dress from SA? i saw that it went on sale recently...
Great Equipment blouse! It's one of those versatile item you can wear all year round. I was a bit dubious of the hype around the brand but it seems to be worth all the praises.
I'm not into shorts in Paris in the Summer BUT I spotted some Etoile baggy and longer ones that could very well end in my closet come the sales! I usually prefer loose fitting dresses, skirts with linen tees and flats. Oh and it's the only time, I really let my inner boho-hippie child come out in full force: colorful pieces, a bit of print and long flowy clothes.
Aissa: i know what you mean! the hype is warranted. i love my equipment shirt and it's got so many uses year-round. i love how you styled your boho-ish dresses on your blog! i may wear my dresses more now that i have the IM booties - for some reason, i can never get into a purely feminine thing. the boots add just the right amount of tomboy :)

a perfect summer uniform. i could get into this look...
ReplyDeleteI like materials that are loosely woven, almost rough to the touch, but still soft and light. Cotton and linen are my best friends!
ReplyDeletestyle odyssey: it's all about the path of least resistance... :)
ReplyDeletelin: cotton & linen are my faves too - they're the more practical cousins to silk!

lovely! this is kind of my summer uniform as well, but swap the levis cut-offs with a pair of tailored shorts!!

ReplyDeleteYou look lovely. I am considering the Equipment blouse too. It's so hard to find good white silk blouses.
