new in: the Clare V x Other Stories bucket bag – my favorite piece from the capsule.
it is finally, finally starting to feel a little bit like spring here.
so they are calling for maybe a little snow tomorrow, but as far as i'm concerned, i'm done with winter. done! wardrobe planning for spring this year is all about experimenting with shapes and textures, and having fun with color.
on the list:
a medium taupe work satchel // a structured-but-not-stiff tote/satchel with compartments for files.
a sculptural long coat // really feeling a light grey coat this season with a soft, clean line.
a dusty rose silky cashmere scarf // love this color for spring. (mini style resolution this year: trying to not be afraid of color!)
a pair of white jeans // i've had white jeans on my wp list before, but never really found the right pair. we'll see if that changes this season.
some kind of silky maxi dress // looking for something diaphanous and colorful and suitable for a friend's summer wedding.
purchased:
a fun bucket bag (also here) // an inexpensive pop of color and just big enough for a spring weekend. (FYI, the red leather used in the collection is actually a bright fluo orangey-red in real life.)
the casual leather slip-ons // i realized that the shoes that are easiest to get on are the ones that get the most wear. these are on par with my Toms as my favorite no-socks slipons.
oversized infinity scarf // wardrobe winner. the light blush tan color also lightens up everything else, and the texture is gauzy but cozy.
a fun fashion sweatshirt // because if you're going to wear a sweatshirt, it should be fun :)
inspirations:
Betty Halbreich (just ordered a copy of her memoir), Alice Munro, Sofia Coppola.
mood colors: navy, variations of pink, etoupe, grays.
P.S.: the closet edit continues at the shop with the hero parka, HOPE Stockholm et al.
how is your wardrobe planning coming along?
On my wish list too is the perfect white jeans which don't make look like a heffalump. And I just had a nosey at the sweatshirt you pointed out and it made me laugh. I can see me wearing that sipping my Earl Grey with a blanket over my knee in the evenings. It would make a picture ;o)
ReplyDeletehaha! i am with you on that quest :D and i am all about those cheeky sweatshirts.
DeleteCute bucket bag - I've been eyeing those Monsieur Gavriel bags but I don't really *need* a bag at the moment. My spring wardrobe planning is going well so far. Bought 1 item on my list, a CdG play cardigan - finally found it on TheRealReal after stalking it there and on Vestiaire for months. Purchased a pair of Frame black skinny jeans off eBay (tried them on at Barneys then bought them off eBay for 1/4 the price ;) to replace my old JBrands (can't be a size 24 forever I guess!). I did buy one thing not on my list :( but it was cheap! I'll do better next month... hopefully.
ReplyDeletei'm test driving the style with the Clare V/OS :)
DeleteLove that you bought that bucket bag! I have been drooling over the white colorway since it came out but didn't pull the trigger when it was in stock. I moped around for a few days, kept checking the website, and it finally came back in stock so I pounced on it. I cannot wait until it arrives. :) I haven't really fallen in love with bucket bags until I saw that one.

yes! it's the standout piece IMO - light and buttery leather too!
DeleteYour list of wants are so like mine. But I don't own anything like that cool bucket bag and I'm trying to Look Away:).
ReplyDeleteLPC - it's such a fun bag at a very nice price! i say go for it :)
DeleteI still love my MG bucket bags in brandy and black/flamma - that said, Clare Vivier designs great bags at a good price. I own a navy messenger and a navy/lavender simple tote by her - and a CV custom-made black patent clutch, which is perfect for most evenings out.
ReplyDeleteAs far as new purchases are concerned, I recently bought a tribal/minimalist cuff by a Nepalese label called Kaligarh. Wear it most days. And plan to pick up a few saris as well as a wooden minaudiere by Indian designer, Rachana Reddy.
Ammu - i agree with you re CV bags. i quite like many of the pieces i've seen in person.
DeleteI want the Lyndale Bucket from J.W. Hulme. I love the made in USA and quality from this brand.
ReplyDeleteI recently stocked up on Everlane silk tank tops in nude and navy by fear of them discontinuing this amazing style.
I want more Rachel Comey Mars boots - my one grey pair snatched on sale last fall is the best modern dress shoes in my wardrobe. I want the gold but I am not sure I can pull it off.
I cannot recommend enough the 100% cashmere stole from Muji.
I finally bought the Vince suede slip-on sneakers I've been wanting. My only problem will be not wearing them everyday, with every outfit. ;-) They really are the perfect casual-but-not-too casual shoe for me--I can wear them with skirts, dresses, and any of my pants.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, adding blue into my black and white wardrobe for spring--some T by Alexander Wang pants from Outnet clearance to wear with all of my black jackets and a Madewell dolman-sleeved, waist-length chambray top.
I just bought a pair of No. 6 clog sandals in blush and they're pretty much perfect. (http://no6store.com/no6-clogs/two-strap-clog-on-mid-heel-in-blush.html)
ReplyDeleteAlso bought a pair of the Everlane cropped wool pants for work, and a Thomas Mason tuxedo tunic in light blue -- I think cropped pants, easy tunics, and low heels are going to be my uniform for summer.
Those clogs are adorable. I love the blush color--such a pretty neutral.
