first things first – let's take a moment to appreciate the timeless style of vintage Kate Moss and Johnny Depp. on Kate: this is everything that i still want to wear. be still my '90s heart!
now – onto winter wardrobe planning...
01 leather minimalist work tote // after some comparison shopping and a friend's positive experience with hers, i think i've finally found it: the sophisticated leather carryall that won't break the bank. (see my review.)
02 cashmere knit beanie // got one for the bf for the holidays...time to get one for myself since i lost my last winter hat.
clothes
06 white tees // a few more to add to my essential stash.
07 a black turtleneck // the timeless, versatile basic that's still missing from my closet.
08 the elusive chunky ivory knit // the white unicorn of my wardrobe.

03 CdG mini zip wallet // a slim option for a night out to complement my 6+ year-old everyday square-zip CdG.
04 oversize cashmere shawl // the more elegant version of The Snuggie that i/you/we all yearn for at a certain point in January.
05 burgundy trio // because i use mine in black nonstop. a rich pop of color in a super handy design.

10 coated black jeans // for the longest time i was set on the idea of leather leggings, but the reality is these coated jeans are so much more practical.

11 diptyque candles // now that i've gone through two, i'm convinced that these enhance my winter reading experience (about a third of the way through The Goldfinch!)
*fall update /// since my last wardrobe planning post, i managed to check off nearly all the items on my list except for the ivory chunky knit. defaulting to my everlane cardigans these days.
thoughts on the season //
i hope you all had a lovely holiday break. what's on your winter wardrobe planning list?
thoughts on the season //
- really feeling a back to basics palette – black, white, grey, navy.
- fun new year's resolution #103: yes to eyeliner, yes to the cat-eye.
- in the mood for a burgundy pop of color to go with everything this winter.
Love your picks. I got an Everlane slouchy Cardi in light gray for Christmas and LOVE it. Perfect slouch and soft and warm! I'm thinking the black/gray/navy/white is going to be my permanent palette (livened up with some color in scarfs/bags). I'm drawn to it and it is just much easier.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I'm still looking for is the St James Breton - sold out in my size in the color I wanted from JCrew before "Santa" could get it for me!
i think they just restocked the bretons - so glad you love your EL cardigans. mine have held up really well after a year.
DeleteNot sure if you've heard of Mansur Gavriel for your minimalist work tote. It's $100 more, but the quality is superb and is the perfect design. I like the interior colors and it comes with a matching wallet for essentials. I also think it looks a little more structured/clean than the Everlane one. (I dislike hardware)
ReplyDeletei have! given their overnight success all their tote styles are sold out currently everywhere, it seems...i'll post an update or two in my quest to find my minimalist tote ;)
DeleteI finally got my first load of goods from Everlane and am now even more in love with them than I was when it was all theoretical. I can see that you're a fan too... ;) That cashmere stole looks so good, but I just got the Acne Canada scarf for xmas so I think I'm all set there. Definitely want to check out the Everlane cardigan, looks like such a workhorse of an item. And you'll have to report back when you get the tote, I'm so curious! Also have a cashmere beanie (from Steven Alan) that I love and cannot imagine spending a winter without one.
ReplyDeleteah, i am not surprised! i will definitely do a post on the tote - stay tuned! :)
DeleteI'm kind of set for my winter wardrobe - I waited until the sales hit rock bottom right after Christmas, and picked up two pairs of jeans identical to the two I'm wearing now, in order to replace sometime this upcoming year as needed. I also got a pair of lovely Frye Jillian oxfords, so my shoe collection is feeling complete at the moment. I also got some Smartwool socks (I feel so grown up; I can't remember the last time I actually bought myself some socks. Who does that?) which are way more comfortable and warm than my old workout socks. I'm also in the process of selling some things on eBay, and hopefully making some money for one big purchase coming up......
ReplyDeletehaha, i am with you on sock-shopping. so boring and yet so necessary once in a while. exciting about your big purchase! do update us, won't you? :)
DeleteI think I am pretty set for winter - now that I have picked up a pair of flat ankle boots from 12th street by Cynthia Vincent. Unless my local cashmere shop restocks navy pullovers, in which case I may pick up one or two. Loving the gray ones I got in November.
ReplyDeleteI am considering getting a spring/summer bucket bag from Mansur Gavriel (been wearing the black/flamma one nonstop). Really wanted one of the cammello ones but am worried about dye transfer from my indigo jeans. The brandy ones are lovely too :)
Oh Ammu, I'd love to see pictures of your Mansur Gavriel bag(s). I got to pick up and feel one of these at our new local Steven Alan, and I'm curious to see how the leather breaks in - it's such a unique type of leather I haven't encountered before.
DeleteI haven't taken any photos yet. I can tell you that the leather is definitely prone to scratches but wears beautifully. And the black/flamma bucket bag hasn't lost any structure since I began using it, I believe the unlined bags become more flexible with wear.
Deletei said yes to eyeliner in 2013! i am all about that life. my winter wardrobe seems to be veering more towards the pullover sweater instead of cardigans. i'm loving one step dressing; and trying to find more dresses to make dressing that much easier. i have my eye on some IVANA helsinki pieces since i love their prints. checked out those mansur gavriel bags at the local Steven Alan--no love from me, but they must be all the rage for some reason.
ReplyDeletehappy 2014 to you!
i hear you on the MG hype...time will tell how good they really are, and when any of them come back in stock i shall have to check them out in person soon...
DeleteI really need to get around to replenishing my white t-shirt stock - lost a favourite to mysterious laundry circumstances, and two of my oldest ones are stretching to the point of indecency at the neckline. I may finally commit to the Everlane ones; just hope they're worth the effort of shipping over!
ReplyDeleteI also threw out an old striped knit dress that was just pilled beyond decency and I hope to replace it with something nice and lightweight.
That picture of Kate - so good!
lin - the EL ones are so good! i wear the S in the v-neck, the right neckline and just slouchy enough.
DeleteI'm pretty much all set for winter now - my final purchases will likely be a new white t-shirt, as the cat snagged my current one, and some snow boots for the inevitable blizzard!
ReplyDeletehaha, i love your high street finds - they fit so well with your luxurious gems!
